Is sorry to hear that he never received his book "Degrees of Life in Man". Will attend meeting of the Ministers Conferences in Baltimore. Will also be ion Washington D.C. for the General Convention? and if Markham is there he would kije to meet with him.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
